The Mid-Atlantic Painters Association honors the tradition of fine art that finds beauty in the truth of nature. Through exhibitions, workshops, and other special events MAPAPA promotes the appreciation of, and the participation in the art of outdoor painting. Throughout the year MAPAPA holds paint-outs and paint-out pluses which provide artists the opportunity of having not only a painting experience, but also the opportunity to discuss and learn from each other and, periodically from professional guest speakers. The member-artist also can develop the ability to grow professionally through regional and national juried shows. Artists participating in this exhibition are all from the Mid-Atlantic area states whose media ranges from oil and pastel painting to acrylic and watercolor. The exhibition will feature images of various sizes with subjects ranging from the intimate, small flower pot to the vast landscape.

Karen Freeman is a graduate of Moore College of Art and has also studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She maintains a studio in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. David Young attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has studied with many professional artists. He is represented by the Tyme Gallery in Havertown, Pennsylvania. Both Ms. Freeman’s and Mr. Young’s work has been exhibited in many juried shows in the Philadelphia area and is in many private collections. Their recent body of work reflects many happy hours spent in jazz venues in Philadelphia and the rich experience of the music and local characters.
